So, it's around 9pm last night. I am at my computer, of course. It is thunderstorming outside. Nothing unusual. The news is on, with a couple of storm warnings. No biggie. I've learned to deal with it. I am home by myself. Frank was doing a video shoot, and Hannah was at her play.
All of a sudden I heard the loudest noise I've ever heard in my life. I thought an airplane had hit my house. The house shook for a second and immediately the VERY LOUD alarm went off in my house. As I was running around frantically searching for where it was coming from, I immediately thought, lightening must have hit my house...but then I thought, Naw, what are the chances? There are so many houses in the neighborhood, why would it be MINE?? So I run around like a madwoman and get a hammer. I am ready to smash the alarm because it is deafening to my ears. Instead I clipped the wires. What a relief to not have that thing blaring at me. I really need to talk to the alarm company. I mean, I know not everyone is a light sleeper, but, does it really have to be THAT loud when it goes off? Anyway, before long I hear another alarm outside and of course, its coming from my house. I run out in the pouring rain and run to the neighbor who helps me disconnect it.
When I woke this morning, I went into the backyard because surely it was just the loudness of the thunder that was that sound and not lightening hitting my house. When I went in the backyard, I found bits and pieces of brick on the grass. When I looked up at my chimney, I noticed, we had, in fact, been hit by lightening on the chimney. What an evening I had!!
This morning of course, it is beautiful and sunny out. ONLY IN TEXAS!! YEE HAW!!
