Update on Little Ty-Man

Ty went to Medical City in Dallas last thursday to get the scope down his esophagus. The procedure went well. They put him out first, then put the IV in him, so he felt nothing. He took forever to wake up afterwards, which we smile about because he is a great sleeper. The doctor showed us a picture of his esophagus opening about halfway down, which was about half the size as it should be. The doctor then stretched the opening out so that it matched what a normal person has. He said that we will go down and scope him again in one month, to see how the hole looks...if it has gone back to original small size, OR if if has stayed the same after the stretch. He said that as Ty grows older, it is supposed to open itself up, but until then we may have to bring him back monthly, then yearly. We were very grateful, because this means he can eat regular food! We gave him mac & cheese for the first time yesterday. He loved it. Now he is having fun eating avocado, grapes, bananas, cheese..etc. I am still cutting them in pieces, but he loves everything so far. We want to say thanks to everyone for praying for our new dear son. He is such a treasure. We pray that his esophagus can one day be normal, but for now...we are so grateful. He is such a little blessing in our lives, and is constantly making me, frank and hannah laugh all the time.

I am so happy that it all went well. We will continue to pray that the hole stays open and that you won't have to do that every month! Thanks for the update...we've been wondering!
